Glowing Seas Cowl
I designed this pattern a while back, but never got the time to get actually write it out. So, I’ve just been hanging on to it with the intention of posting it later in the year. But, a few weeks ago, I decided I wanted to go a head and post it. Half the year is over already and before you know, it will be Fall.This cowl is warm enough for those breezy fall days, but light enough that you don’t feel like your baking in an oven.

The yarn I used for this pattern came from my Knitcrate subscription,which was Knitologie Glowing. It was a pretty blue made from wool and silk, and it was so soft I could wait to work with it. And, this Cowl worked up quickly and only used one skein.
Anyway, let’s get to the pattern:
Materials Needed:
6.5 mm hook
1 skein, Knitologie Glowing worsted, or 150 yd. worsted weight yarn
scissors
needle
Stitches Used:
ch= chain
Sc= single crochet
dc = double crochet
Additional Terms
v-st= DC in stitch, ch1, DC in same stitch
Gauge: 13 dc and 10 rows=4 inches
Measurements:
36 inches x 8 inches
Additional Notes:
Cowl is worked flat and them seamed together to join. Ch-3 at beginning of rows count as a stitch.
Pattern:Ch. 92. DC in 4th ch from hook. DC in each st until the end of the row.
Row. 2. Ch.3. (counts as a dc, here and throughout) sk 1st DC, and DC in each st across.
Row 3. Ch 3. Skip two DC. V-st in next st. *Sk next 2 DC and then v-st in the next. Repeat from * to last 2 St. Skip 1 and DC in the last.
Row 4. Ch 3. Skip first DC, *DC in each stitch and ch of v-st. Repeat from * across ending with a DC in last stitch.
Row 5. Ch 3, skip first DC and DC in each at across.
Row 6 -17: Repeat rows 3-5 as established.Fasten off.
Button Hole Edge:Attached yarn to one edge of the cowl. Ch1, and SC 30 stitches Evenly across the edge.
Row 2: ch1, SC in first sc, ch 2, skip 2 SC, SC in next 11 SC, ch 2, skip next 2 SC, SC in next 11 st, ch 2, skip 2 SC, SC in last stitch.
Row3: ch1, SC in each stitch across. Fasten off.
Button Edge:Row 1: Attach yarn in corner on other end of cowl. Ch 1, SC 30 stitches Evenly across.Fasten off.
Finishing:Fold piece with each end touching. Mark other end where buttons should be placed, and sew buttons on.Weave in all ends.
